Ghosts, Goblins and Halloween Haunts
I can’t believe we’re 3/4s of the way through October already. Is everyone ready for Halloween? If not, we’ve got some unique and awesome decorations and party-ware in stock for the holiday. Still a few cute items if you’re putting together a costume also. We’re open every day but Wednesday. Stop by and say Hey! https://www.overtherainbowtx.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/OvertheRainBat.mp4 Wear a Costume & Save We’ve been super busy at the shop, adding all sorts of new items, vintage and new, and getting ready for the holidays— from Halloween through Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years. It seems that once…

Yay Fall!
We’re jumping with Joy at Somewhere Over the Rainbow !We Love Fall, and all that it includes. Pumpkins, gourds and colorful foliage are cause for all the happy feelings. Cooler days and chilly evenings are for getting into cozy sweaters and socks, wearing boots and jackets. The days are getting shorter (good for sleeping) and the general pace of life just slows a bit. Halloween is around the corner, and after that the fun and excitement of the Holiday Season. We’ve got some new pretties in the store, and I am addding new/old vintage stock…

The End Of Summer
Is That Fall in The Air ☆ Or a Little Magic It’s the beginning of Labor Day Weekend as I write this— the unofficial end of Summer. By the Calendar, and the thermometer, no doubt, there are still several weeks left in the Sunny Season. It’s been up and down for us. Busy at times, and not so much at others. There’s no pattern that I can See so far, so I continue to watch and wait. Already, in just the few months we’ve been open, the shop has begun to morph and change. Often,…

Pronghorn Marfa
April 2023 Update… Since I wrote the original article in the summer of 2021, Pronghorn has moved (across the street) into a larger space and expanded to fill it. After a recent visit and new photographs, I have decided to amend and update this post. Pronghorn is still one of the most interesting and innovative stores/galleries in this area. A visit to Marfa is not complete without stopping into this business (120 N. Highland). Shopping~ Our Larger Local This week we are featuring yet another favorite among the shopping possibilities in our West Texas #LargerLocal…

Getting to Know Our Neighbors
At Somewhere Over the Rainbow, we’re not just enthusiastic about our own shop. Small businesses, particularly those in Small Towns need to support one another, to carry that idea of Shopping Local to the next level. We have to Live Local, to remember our neighbors, visit their businesses and choose to keep our own dollars in the community whenever it is feasible. To those ends, we want to use space on our website to promote our friends and neighbors in Fort Davis, and all the neighboring areas. Look for a post about a business or local…

Behind the Rainbow
https://www.overtherainbowtx.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/firefly-window.mp4#t=,5 As of this weekend (July 17 & 18) we have officially been open for business two months. It has not been without its ups and downs I’ll admit. There have been days when business was so good that our optimism soared. And others that passed without a single customer coming through the door. When that happens, the mood tends to shift into unwelcome channels of “what if?” Even after so short a time, we all are beginning to realize that you can’t let yourself get caught in these loops for good or ill. A…

Go For the Lights
Marfa, TX Stay for the charm. Not to mention the food, the art and the warm atmosphere that’ll keep you coming back for more. Marfa is amazing. We recently went and spent most of a day in this small, vibrantly creative town. Even though much has been impacted this year by Covid-19, it remains a destination not to be missed. A treat for the eye and the camera. There is something lovely, surprising, edgy or artsy (or all at once) around every corner. It is a town that has taken a remote location, a daunting…
