Living Local

Fort Davis is small town living at its best. Part of belonging to a community is spending your time and money there. Supporting your small businesses from merchants to restaurants, hardware to grocery, is part of what makes or breaks a town.

We have long been proponents of shopping locally, of supporting our community and the small businesses and organizations that make it thrive. In Fort Davis as well as Alpine and Marfa, we have found a dazzling array of destinations to shop, to eat, and to enjoy this magnificent area we live in. The business owners we have met and traded with have been friendly, informative, and very helpful.

Part of my intent with this website is to Spotlight and Support these wonderful businesses and people. It will be my forum to Brag about the wonderful place we live, and all that goes into making it so. I am so looking forward to exploring each of these towns (and the wider West Texas area) at more depth, at getting to know more of the people, and letting them get to know me/us.

And we hope that our business, Somewhere Over the Rainbow, becomes more than just a place to shop. We hope to become integral to the community, and perhaps become a Destination in that capacity. We are looking forward with great enthusiasm to getting to know both the local residents and visitors to Fort Davis.
