Happy Birthday to…
Somewhere Over the Rainbow
The long and short of it is that I’m not sure if it feels like a year since we launched this small Shop on the Edge of Eternity or not. Some months have trickled by like a dried up desert spring, and others have rushed by like the water down State Street after one of our monsoonal downpours. (Yes, we think about Water a lot out here.) However it might feel to me, a year has wound passed since we opened the store. The Official Birthday is March 18th (Wednesday; the only day of the week we are closed) but we will be celebrating this significant Event all of next week.
Beginning on Monday May 16th and through Saturday the 21st we will be having a Sale. Everything at Somewhere Over the Rainbow will be twenty percent off. We look forward to seeing you. On Saturday, I hope to have cookies or cupcakes, and there will be a door prize drawing that afternoon. We are excited to mark our first year in business in West Texas.
In fact, I can’t help but also reflect that it will only be a few short weeks until we mark our second anniversary being back in Texas. Fort Davis has changed much, along with the rest of the world it seems in the years in between, but has maintained much of its essential nature. It is good to be Home finally. I love West Texas more than any other place I have ever been, and I’ve been and lived in a fair number of places. I truly have come to understand that saying “I wasn’t born here, but I got here as fast as I could.”
