Smile Anyway
The Great Mask Controversy I’m doing a short post today in the interest of clarifying the position we at Somewhere Over the Rainbow have chosen to take where masks are concerned. We recognize that it is an issue that raises a great deal of controversy. Like many topics these days, the middle ground seems to be lightyears away from the extremes espoused by one side or the other. While we don’t feel affiliated in particular with either side of this controversial subject, we have chosen a path that works for us. While we watch and…

Getting to Know Our Neighbors
At Somewhere Over the Rainbow, we’re not just enthusiastic about our own shop. Small businesses, particularly those in Small Towns need to support one another, to carry that idea of Shopping Local to the next level. We have to Live Local, to remember our neighbors, visit their businesses and choose to keep our own dollars in the community whenever it is feasible. To those ends, we want to use space on our website to promote our friends and neighbors in Fort Davis, and all the neighboring areas. Look for a post about a business or local…

Behind the Rainbow
https://www.overtherainbowtx.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/firefly-window.mp4#t=,5 As of this weekend (July 17 & 18) we have officially been open for business two months. It has not been without its ups and downs I’ll admit. There have been days when business was so good that our optimism soared. And others that passed without a single customer coming through the door. When that happens, the mood tends to shift into unwelcome channels of “what if?” Even after so short a time, we all are beginning to realize that you can’t let yourself get caught in these loops for good or ill. A…

A Cool Fourth…
In Fort Davis Texas I don’t know about you, but I’m having a hard time wrapping my mind around the fact that July 4th is just a couple of days away. Maybe this last month has just flown by, or maybe we (Somewhere Over the Rainbow Team) have been so busy for the last three months that time just got away from us. However, the first big milestone of summer is definitely here. I know I’ve been looking forward to it. Not only is it our first July 4th in the new store, but last…

Congratulations to the winners in our little door prize drawing; Ann Marie, Jennifer and Sue. We hope to do more such promotions in the future.…

Building a Dream
Hoping the Foundation is Good Having, after well over a month of hard work, finally opened Somewhere Over the Rainbow, we are in that rather nerve racking period of waiting to see. If you build it, will they come? So far, we’ve had a couple of really good days, and a few that have been anything but. We are on State Street, but a little off the beaten path, and sitting just a bit back from the road. Our next door neighbors are Cueva De Leon (Yum)and Davis Mountains Rock Shop (the business owned by…
